Northern Lights

I’ve been wanting to do a pair like these for a while. My fascination with the sky runs deep I used to cloud gaze with my grandmother on the front lawn in Boissevain and stargaze on warm summer nights at the lake. I love how the sky is so unknown to me, it makes me feel small and insignificant but in a comforting kind of way.

I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy a few dances from the Northern Lights each year at my cabin from the deck or in the hot tub. My family cabin is shared with my mother’s side of the family. My grandma, my family, my mom’s 4 siblings, 3 of them are married and there are 11 grandkids and no, we we don’t have a sharing schedule and we’re often all up there at the same time.

We rebuilt the cabin after my Papa’s passing in 2003 when my uncle Brian went through the old cabin floor and one summer when we hadn’t quite got the deck railing up we noticed the Northern Lights in the sky. My uncle Bill decided to turn out all the lights so we could watch and my uncle Brian (yeah, the same one that went through the cabin floor) enjoyed the Northern Lights right off the side of the deck… He was okay and we laugh about it now as a fond memory though, maybe not for him.

The Northern Lights are such a beautiful expression by Mother Nature and we’re pretty fortunate to get to witness them.
